Melissa Forrester, DVM

Title: Owner and Veterinarian: Dr. Forrester has a well rounded set of skills and experience with special interest in internal medicine, ultrasound, dentistry, and surgery.  She is passionate about education, and approaches her patients with an emphasis on care for their entire well-being.  Dr. Forrester's passion for high quality medicine and customer service are the cornerstone of what is special about Southeast Alabama Veterinary Hospital.

Education:  Dr. Forrester has a BA in Anthropology from Sewanee, and is a 2002 magna cum laude graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Bio: Dr. Forrester is married to Jared and they are the proud parents of two children: Carl and Claire and many furry children.

Professional Interests: dentistry, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, ultrasound

Favorite thing about working at SEAVH:  Making a difference in the owner's and patient's lives by solving a challenging case, and watching the animal get better.

 Jamie Jones, MS, DVM

Title:  Associate Veterinarian- Dr. Jones is the model of compassionate, professional veterinary care. She approaches each patient with a determination, thoughtfulness, and thoroughness that allows her to provide the highest quality care to our patients.

Bio: Dr. Jones has been working at SEAVH since December 2012.  She lives in Dothan with her husband, Phillip, and her spunky daughter, Sutton

Favorite thing about working at SEAVH: Educating clients about their furry family members.  A well informed client is the best advocate for their animal's health and welfare!  And of course, taking care of all our sweet and adorable patients. 

Charlsie Coe, DVM

Title: Associate Veterinarian- Dr. Coe is a part-time veterinarian known for her calm demeanor and quick wit, making both pets and their owners feel at ease. Her love for animals shines through in every interaction, whether she's treating a patient or offering advice to a worried pet parent.  With a clever remark and a gentle touch, Dr. Coe turns every visit into a reassuring experience.

Bio: Life is full and lively with her three kids—Chapman, Florrie, and Betsy—who keep her constantly on her toes. When she's not working or parenting, she enjoys beauty care, traveling, and spending time with her beloved King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Frannie.

Education: Dr. Coe has a BS in Zoology from Auburn University and is a 2009 graduate from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine

Meagan Coleman, DVM

Title: Associate Veterinarian- Dr. Coleman has a cool, calm, and collected demeanor that brings a sense of ease to every interaction. Her confidence in veterinary medicine continues to grow, guided by a genuine curiosity and a passion for understanding the “whys” behind each case.

Bio: Dr. Coleman moved to Dothan with her husband, Tony, and their fur children.

Education: Dr. Coleman is Mississippi native and obtained her Bachelor's degree in Animal and Dairy Sciences from Mississippi State University. She  remained at MSU for veterinary school, and graduated in May 2022 as a Giles Scholar. 

Pets: 3 cats (Felix, Franklin, and Chicky Nug), 2 dogs (Bindi and Phoebe)

Hobbies: Spending time outdoors, fishing, kayaking, reading, watching college football, and visiting with family and friends

Brittany Walker, DVM

Title: Associate Veterinarian- Dr. Brittney is a sweet and caring veterinarian who takes the time to thoroughly educate her clients, ensuring they feel informed and supported. Her gentle nature and compassionate approach make her a favorite among both pets and their owners. She has a soft spot for any animal in need and always goes the extra mile to provide comfort and care. With her warm heart and dedication, Dr. Brittney makes a lasting impact on every patient she sees.

Bio: Dr. Brittney is a proud mom to two active boys, Wyatt and Finn, who love to play sports. Outside the clinic, she enjoys trail riding with her horses and embracing the outdoors. Her favorite color is pink, which perfectly matches her bright and cheerful personality. Most of all, she treasures making special memories with her boys , whether at the ballfield or on horseback. She also has a bonus daughter, Adeline, who also shares the love of trail riding.

Education: Dr. Brittney earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Troy University before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University. She went on to complete a specialized internship in equine medicine and lameness at Colorado State University.

Pets: Dr. Brittney's pack of dogs include Roscoe, Pickles, Moose, Sally, and Kaitlyn. Her trail riding horse is Collins. She also has two mini fur babies, hamsters, Jeremy and Fred.

Hobbies: When Dr. Brittney is not working, she is probably out horseback riding or planning her next trip. 

Favorite thing about working at SEAVH: Dr. Brittany couldn’t ask for a better team—these ladies are the real MVPs. We lift each other up, have each other’s backs, and give our all so our patients can heal stronger and faster. Teamwork like this is rare, and she is grateful every day.

Practice Manager

Brandi Cook

Title: Practice Manager/Veterinary Assistant- Brandi is an incredibly versatile member of our team- She assists in all aspects of practice, and is also responsible for maintaining our pet portal site, special order drugs, staff scheduling, and payroll. She is amazing at anticipating what needs to be done, and provides great support to the whole team.

Bio: Brandi has worked in the veterinary field since she was 14 years old.  Brandi has been married to Gail Raye for over 10 years, and they have a handsome little boy, Graham, who is the light of their lives, and keeps them on their toes  with his infectious, high energy personality

Hobbies: Traveling, movies, board games , watching college football, and making memories with family and friends

Favorite thing about working at SEAVH: She loves taking care of the animals, and loves when we can help a sick animal and return them back to a happy owner.  She also really loves the challenging case where the diagnosis is not readily apparent-when we have to work hard to find the diagnosis and correct treatment.  She feels like this job is so rewarding in so many ways.

Michelle Jordan

Title: Veterinary Receptionist- Michelle is a multi-tasking dynamo!  She is the lead receptionist, and provides amazing attention and personalized customer service to all of our patients and clients. She is extremely organized and incredibly knowledgeable.  She is an invaluable asset to our team.  Michelle has worked in the veterinary field for 25+ years 

Bio: Michelle is married to Nick, one daughter, Megan, and two grandkids, Henry and Holden. She has been a vet receptionist for 30 years and pet sit on the side.

Hobbies: Going to the beach, spending time with her grandsons, Henry and Holden, and shopping for shoes.

Favorite thing about working at SEAVH: Michelle is grateful she gets to work with the best of the best—amazing doctors, staff, and clients. Every aspect of her job is so rewarding. She has been doing this for almost 30 years, and she couldn’t imagine doing anything else. She loves every one of her clients and patients like family.

Sherie Suss

Title: Veterinary Receptionist: Sherie always brings a fun and enthusiastic attitude to the hospital, offering excellent customer service with a smile and a helping hand. She actively pursues continuing education to expand her veterinary knowledge and has earned Certified Veterinary Client Service Representative (CVCSR) certification, further enhancing her expertise.

Bio: Sherie has been married to her husband, Glen for 35 years.  They have 2 kids and 5 grandkids, and soon to have a great grandchild.  Sherie has been in the veterinary field for 18 years in various different positions.

Madeline Sanders

Title: Veterinary Receptionist: Madeline is the kind of person everyone feels comfortable around—trustworthy, down-to-earth, and always ready with a friendly smile. She naturally builds strong, lasting relationships with clients and their pets, making each visit feel personal and welcoming. She loves connecting with clients and making sure every visit ends with a smile—whether it’s from a wagging tail or a grateful pet parent.

Bio: Originally from North Carolina, she made the move to Alabama at the age of ten—and it’s been home ever since. She has been with her boyfriend, DJ, for over four years now. She officially stepped into the veterinary field in 2023, but the dream to work with animals began in her early teens.

Jessica Nuckolls

Title: Veterinary Receptionist: Jessica brings her wit, charm, and a great sense of humor to the front desk—along with valuable hands-on experience as a veterinary assistant. She loves building relationships with clients and their pets. Her background gives her a unique edge in understanding what pets need and what their humans worry about most. Whether she’s sharing a laugh or offering reassurance, Jessica is the friendly face that makes every visit a little brighter.

Bio: Jessica is a proud mom to her daughter, Eloise, and has spent the past two years immersed in the world of veterinary medicine. Driven by her passion for animal care, she’s setting her sights on a veterinary technician program to deepen her knowledge and take her love for the field to the next level.

Favorite thing about working at SEAVH: Jessica genuinely cherishes the relationships she has built with our clients—and she is excited to keep growing those connections. There’s nothing better than seeing all the adorable babies who visit our clinic! And the most rewarding part? Watching those sweet little ones come in feeling unwell and leave brighter, healthier, and on the mend. It’s truly the heart of what she loves to do.

Michelle Bowdoin

Title: Licensed Veterinary Technician: Michelle is a skilled Lead Surgical Tech and dedicated surgical tech trainer, known for her precision and leadership in the operating room. She brings a wealth of experience and a focused presence that ensures procedures run smoothly and efficiently. As a trainer, Michelle is thorough and empowers new techs with the knowledge and confidence they need to excel. She holds an additional AAHA Anesthesia Safety and Monitoring Guidelines Certificate to add to her tool bag to make sure each surgical patient is treated with the utmost care.

Joined Team: Michelle originally joined the Southeast Veterinary Hospital when she started tech school with Jefferson State back in 2011. She ventured out to other opportunities in 2016 but made her way back with valuable experience in 2022. She is happy to be back with the SEAVH team!

BIO: Michelle has worked in the veterinary field for the past 19 years. She began her career at the Wiregrass Humane Society. She instantly knew that was what she was meant to do. She earned her license in Veterinary Technology in 2013. She is married to Matt, and they absolutely adore their precious son, Luke.

Pets: She has a house full that they love dearly. She has 2 dogs (Skyler/Layla), 5 cats (Tawanda, Gus, Biscuit, Niblet, and Ziggy), 2 goats (Niko/Brother), 2 rabbits (Nugget/Waffle), 2 bulls (JoJo/Mustard), and a fish.

Hobbies: Michelle enjoys going to the movies, beach, river, lake, or riding side by sides in the mud with her 6 year old little boy.

Favorite thing about working at SEAVH: Of course everyone loves the cute puppies and kittens! However, seeing a sick or injured animal recover and return home is a deeply rewarding experience.

Veterinary Assistants

Karrigan Dickerson

Title: Veterinary Assistant: Karrigan is a confident and knowledgeable Floor Tech Lead and vet assistant trainer who consistently steps into action with purpose and clarity. Her expertise allows her to lead the team effectively while providing valuable training and support. Karrigan’s ability to build lasting relationships with clients stems from her genuine care and clear communication. Through her leadership and dedication, she creates an environment of trust and reliability.

Bio: Karrigan is a dedicated animal care professional, wife to Christian, and proud mother to Journee. With a passion for wildlife rehabilitation and animal welfare, she finds fulfillment both in her work and in spending time outdoors. On weekends, she enjoys mudding, staying active, and making memories with her family.

Pets: Karrigan has a lively crew of pets: six dogs—Riley, Keira, Tadpole, Bane, Raina, and Oppossum—four cats—Paisley, Leah, Milkshake, and Skitters—a macaw named LoLo, plus a snake and some chickens.

Hobbies: Karrigan loves the outdoors and lives for adventure—whether it’s fishing, mudding, racing, or drawing. She enjoys spending time with her pets and family.

Favorite thing about working at SEAVH: Karrigan’s favorite part of working with SEAVH is caring for the animals. She is a lifelong animal lover.

Ashley Starling-Parks

Title: Veterinary Assistant- Ashley brings a spunky, can-do spirit to everything she does, shaped by her military background and deep compassion for animals. She’s passionate about educating clients and advocating for pets of all ages, though she holds a special place in her heart for our beloved geriatric companions.

Joined Team: Ashley joined our team in September 2016, and though she ventured out a few times, she always found her way back home to us.

Bio: Ashley is a proud mom to Parker, who loves volleyball, and Starling, an avid golfer, and shares her life with her husband Travis. When she's not caring for pets or educating clients, you'll likely find her soaking up the sun at the beach—her favorite place to relax and recharge.

Alexis Sanchez

Title: Veterinary Assistant- Alexis brings a perfect mix of goofiness and heart to the SEAVH team, brightening every room with her positive attitude. She's deeply empathetic and always in tune with the needs of both pets and their people. With a strong skill set and a warm, down-to-earth approach, Alexis makes every patient feel safe and every client feel heard.

Bio: Her life completely revolves around her pets—they’re her everything! When she is not at work, you’ll find her out in nature, hiking trails and soaking up every bit of fresh air she can. She truly has the best job in the world, surrounded by coworkers who feel more like family. Caring for the pets at SEAVH doesn’t feel like work—it feels like her purpose, and she wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Yecenia Ramirez

Title: Veterinary Assistant- Yecenia may be quiet, but her work speaks volumes—she’s a quick learner who picks up new skills with impressive speed. Always dependable and detail-oriented, she’s the kind of team member you can count on to get the job done right. Her calm, steady presence brings reliability and strength to every shift.

Bio: Yecenia is naturally quiet, however, her passion for animals is evident. The moment she stepped into the veterinary field, she knew she’d found her calling—dedicating her life to improving the well-being of animals and the people who love them. Outside of work, her world revolves around her dogs; there’s nothing that brings her more joy than watching them play, explore, and simply enjoy life. Their happiness fuels her purpose every single day.

Hobbies: Yecenia has a passion for pet photography, capturing the perfect shot of every wag and whisker. When she’s not behind the lens, she’s out exploring hidden trails with her dogs—always chasing the next great view (and maybe a few muddy paw prints along the way).

Lina Cotten

Title: Veterinary Assistant- Lina is an even-tempered professional who approaches every patient and client with calm patience and genuine care. She has a keen eye for detail, ensuring nothing is missed during each visit. By taking her time, Lina makes sure every pet and their person feel truly heard, valued, and supported.

Jessi Gregory

Title: Veterinary Assistant- Jessi is known for her efficiency and focus, keeping things smooth and stress-free whether in appointments or surgery. She has a special love for working breed dogs, drawn to their drive, intelligence, and loyalty. Her calm, capable presence makes her likeable among both pets and their people.

Bio: Jessi was born and raised on the coast of South Carolina riding horses and caring for her animals. She graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences, and she is currently perusing her masters degree in Comparative Biomedical Sciences through UGA. She is also currently applying to Veterinary schools with hopes to become a large animal or mixed practice veterinarian in an underserved rural community in the south.

Pets: One German Shorthaired Pointer and two Off the track thoroughbreds

Hobbies: Jessi loves spending her free time adventuring outdoors—whether it’s hiking rugged trails or camping under the stars with her boyfriend and their loyal pup by her side. Nature, fresh air, and a four-legged companion are her recipe for the perfect getaway.

She loves turning quick conversations into lasting relationships—because to her, clients are more than just pet owners; they're part of the extended SEAVH family.

Selene Miller

Title: Veterinary Assistant- Selene is a knowledgeable and compassionate veterinary assistant who brings positivity and warmth to every patient visit. She's a steady, supportive presence for clients during difficult moments, offering both empathy and clear guidance when it's needed most. Her upbeat attitude and team spirit helps keep morale high, even on the busiest days. Whether she's comforting a worried pet parent or assisting in treatment, Selene is always ready with a smile and a solution.

Bio: Selene began her journey in veterinary medicine in 2020 as a client service representative, where her passion for animal care quickly took root. After two years, she was inspired to take the next step and pursue her veterinary technician license, enrolling in school and transitioning into a veterinary assistant role in 2022. Since then, she’s fallen head over heels for the field—learning and growing every day alongside our amazing doctors and techs. For Selene, no two days are the same, and that’s exactly what she loves most about what she does.

Pets: Schrute, a Siberian Husky; Morty, a Border Collie; and two cats, Mister Frodo and Becky Biscuit.

Hobbies: Selene's hobbies include cooking, reading, hanging out with her fur babies & planning her next vacation with her husband River.

 Neva Lopez

Title: Veterinary Assistant- Neva keeps things lively at SEAVH as the resident comic relief, all while leveling up her skills every day. She’s got a thing for squishy-faced dogs, especially bulldogs and boxers.

Bio: Neva is originally from Foley, Alabama, and moved to Dothan in 2024. When she’s not at work, she spends her free time with her kids, shopping, or browsing Facebook for the next animal she’s going to bring home. Her favorite animal is a bat, and her favorite color is black.

Pets: Neva shares her life with 4 dogs, a cat, 6 chickens, and one very special horse.

Hobbies: Longboarding and photography are Neva’s go-to hobbies.

Destiny Hawkins

Title: Veterinary Assistant- Destiny is mild-mannered and very gentle with animals, showing compassion in every aspect of her care. Her dedication to helping animals makes her a trusted and caring member of the team.

Bio: Destiny has an unwavering passion for animals and hopes to one day establish a rescue organization for abandoned and abused pets. She is currently pursuing a degree in veterinary technology to expand her knowledge and support her future rescue efforts.

Pets: Dogs (7) - Jasper, Ace, Daenerys, Bear, Missy, Zara, and Bella; Cats (3) - Spook, Poochie, and Simba

Hobbies: Destiny enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with her family, and going to the beach. These hobbies allow her to relax, explore, and make lasting memories with loved ones.

Favorite thing about working at SEAVH: Destiny loves working at Southeast Alabama Veterinary Hospital because of the constant opportunities to learn and the strong sense of teamwork among staff. She finds the work environment enjoyable and feels passionate about every aspect of her job.

Rose Meece

Title: Animal Caregiver- Rose is an animal caregiver who freshens up pets with baths, keeps kennel spaces clean, and ensures the hospital is well-stocked and organized. She also offers supportive help to the technicians as she continues learning and working toward becoming a veterinary technician herself.

Bio: Rose is a college student working toward her Veterinary Technician license. While she may be introverted at first, she quickly opens up and enjoys connecting with others once she feels comfortable.

Hobbies: Rose enjoys spending her free time reading, playing video games, and caring for her plants. She also has a love for music, which she finds both relaxing and inspiring.

Favorite thing about working at SEAVH: Rose enjoys working at Southeast Alabama Veterinary Hospital because the staff is always friendly and supportive. She appreciates that her team is willing to teach and guide her without judgment, creating a positive environment to learn and grow.

Grace Hartfield

Title: Veterinary Assistant- Grace is a dependable veterinary assistant known for her patience and calm demeanor with both patients and clients. Her strong technical skills and attention to detail make her an invaluable part of the medical team. Grace consistently provides compassionate care and supports her teammates with reliability and professionalism.

Bio: Grace has been in the veterinary field for seven years. She is often found in the saddle, actively involved in horseback riding. She is married to Jacob and is the mother of Jamie and Tj. Grace is a regular presence at local riding events, whether competing in high-energy barrel races or enjoying the scenery during trail rides. Her passion for the outdoors also includes camping and creating lasting memories with family and friends.

Jenna Hixson

Title: Veterinary Assistant-Jenna is known for her positive attitude and calming presence around pets, which helps them feel safe and comfortable during their visits. She is genuine in her care and dedication, always eager to learn new skills so she can provide the best care possible. Her compassion and willingness to grow make her a valuable part of the team.

Bio: Jenna is a dedicated veterinary assistant with a deep love for animals of all kinds, from furry friends to scaly companions. She began working in the veterinary field in high school, briefly pursued cosmetology in Birmingham, but ultimately returned to her hometown to follow her true passion for veterinary medicine. Now working at a local clinic while finishing her studies online, she is excited to continue serving her community and working toward her goal of becoming a veterinarian.

Hobbies: Jenna loves to read, ride horses, play disc golf, and spending time with her friends and family.

Sarah Allen

Title: Inventory and Work Safety Management- Sarah plays a key role in training staff on safety protocols and best practices, ensuring a secure environment for both pets and team members. She also keeps the hospital’s inventory well-stocked, making sure all supplies are available to provide consistent, high-quality care.

Joined Team: Sarah came with the building back in 2010; she has been at SEAVH for a combined total of 20 years.

Bio: Sarah is a mother of two, Kaitlyn and Nolan, and was born and raised in Iowa. After high school, she joined the Army, where she met her husband, and eventually they settled in Dothan, AL. She considers Southeast Alabama Veterinary Hospital her home away from home.

Favorite thing about working at SEAVH: Sarah loves working at Southeast Alabama Veterinary Hospital because she enjoys watching the animals grow and thrive under her care. She finds it rewarding to be part of their journey and help ensure they stay happy and healthy.

Title: Office Assistant: Lori helps out with the day to day tasks of the hospital. She performs her tasks with precision and consistency. She has a quick wit and is a lot of fun to be around.

Bio: Lori has been happily married for 24 wonderful years and she is a proud mom to two grown daughters and grandma to three amazing grandchildren. Since 2003, Dothan has been her home—and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She is a true homebody at heart, with a quirky love for scary movies, thunderstorms, and cracking jokes to keep everyone laughing. Life’s little thrills and family moments are what makes her world go round.
